About BLADE™ and Harmony Analytica

It starts with a problem worth solving.

Andy Humphrey didn’t set out to build another boring soil moisture sensor. He noticed a gap in the market.

For years, irrigation professionals have been asked to manage increasingly complex systems with incomplete information. Controllers got smarter. Software got shinier. But the most important part of the system, the soil itself, was still largely invisible.

That never sat right.

Andy is the founder of SprinklerSupplyStore.com, a business built on spotting real-world problems and fixing them with what he calls Much Better Customer Service. He’s also the voice behind The Sprinkler Nerd Show, a long-running podcast where he thinks out loud about irrigation, technology, leadership, and the uncomfortable questions most industries avoid.

Along the way, Andy has seen his ideas gain traction outside the industry as well, including an appearance on Shark Tank. But the common thread through everything he builds is simple: if the solution isn’t useful in the field, it doesn’t matter how clever it looks on paper.

Twenty years in irrigation

The vision, since 2005.

Andy had a vision in 2005, when he was the first person to introduce Baseline Controls to the eastern United States. After 20 years building that business, he saw the opportunity to fill the gap that was still missing: the data gap.

There is no longer a need for expensive and overly complicated control systems. You just need sensors. Wireless sensors. The future is in the data.

Why sensors?

Andy believes the next major evolution in landscaping isn’t bigger equipment or smarter timers. It’s data.

Sensors allow us to collect the vital signs of a landscape:

  • Soil moisture
  • Flow
  • Pressure
  • Temperature
  • Usage patterns

When you can see the vital signs of a system, you stop guessing what's happening in your soil and start managing like a professional. You begin to understand how irrigation, soil, weather, and infrastructure interact in real time. You move from reactive to calibrated. From assumption to insight.

That belief led to the creation of Harmony Analytica, Andy's data and IoT company focused on large-scale sensor deployments and analytics across professional turfgrass, green roofs, and other landscapes. Beyond BLADE™, Harmony Analytica supports advanced IoT integrations and large-scale data systems for organizations ready to up their data game.

The mission of all this is simple: make the invisible visible to lead to better decisions.

Why BLADE™ exists.

BLADE™ is the embodiment of that philosophy. It gives you calibrated confidence by providing the data you need to manage your system for easy decision making.

While most soil sensors live above the surface or were adapted from agriculture or residential use, BLADE™ was designed specifically for professional turfgrass environments.

Installed below the surface, BLADE™ measures soil moisture where it actually matters: in the root zone. It uses long-range, low-power LoRaWAN connectivity and works on Harmony Analytica’s network or compatible third-party networks.

BLADE™ gives turf managers clear, trustworthy data so they can adjust irrigation with confidence instead of guesswork. In short, BLADE™ exists to bring the root zone to your fingertips so you can manage your turf with real-time, data-driven insights.

A little rebellious, on purpose.

Andy believes that being a Sprinkler Nerd means being a catalyst for change.

This product was built by a team that questions assumptions, challenges defaults, and isn't afraid to say when the status quo isn’t good enough.

BLADE™ is made for turf managers who share that spirit. We expect you’ll see it reflected in the product itself, in our support, and in every interaction along the way.
